General Strategic is a strategic advisory firm based in Sydney. We work across politics, government, communications, strategy, and technology. We were founded in 2022 by people who’d rather understand the actual problem than retreat behind a framework.

This Substack is where we write about the things we spend our days thinking about. Government and how it actually works (and doesn’t). Politics, not as spectator sport, but as the machinery that shapes lives and livelihoods. Business, culture, technology, and the increasingly blurry lines between all of them.

We don’t write from the empty centre. Everything here has a view, a position, an angle. You might agree. You might not.

Our work sits at the intersection of influence, policy, and human behaviour. We advise organisations navigating complex challenges, particularly where government, community, and public opinion collide.

We’ve worked with some of Australia’s most recognised institutions. But the writing here isn’t client work. It’s the thinking behind the work, the observations we can’t fit into a strategy document, and the arguments we think deserve a wider audience.
